"We Grant Patents at a Level of Abstraction That Is Unwise."
Absolutely. And it's far past due that a
big stink be made about it. Let's see patent reform as a campaign issue -- certainly it's easy enough to tie it to Social Security, economic security, and employment.

The only way to get a patent should be by running the gauntlet of the judges' panel on American Inventor.
Methinks you give people too much credit thinking they would care about the patent issues or see the long term implications. Probably the only way to get Johnny Six Pack to care about patent reform is to find some way of wrapping it in flag burning, family values or something else easily demonized and exploited by the folks running the executive and legislative branches. Given that I'm old and cynical and have lowered my expectations over the last 5 years, I'd settle for mild outrage over kids killed in a war that was driven by greed and deceit, or the obscenity of Medicare " reform" that exploits the elderly, heck, I'd settle for people raising an eyebrow over why our conversations are only sorta kinda private these days. I like the judges gauntlet idea, can we push for an American Leader of the Free World gauntlet? Is Fantasia or Clay available?
